I took a Journalism & Theatre Writing elective my senior year at the University of Missouri. Our final project was to create our very own theatre production company. A press release of the company was part of our assignment. As Communications Director, it was my duty to write our company's press release. Please read below.

CHICAGO, IL (May 3, 2018) - Tip of The Tongue Productions to release their summer season via the company’s website this Friday, May 10.

Tip of The Tongue Productions encompasses their mission statement into every season they produce. The mission statement aims to foster intelligent conversation among young adults in the late 20s to early 40s ages in the Chicago area. This conversation subtly includes themes of social justice, political issues and equality among all people in today’s world.

Tip of The Tongue Productions reaches their target market through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Tip of The Tongue Productions use both Facebook and Twitter to post content and interact with their followers on a daily basis. They use paid advertisements and the use of links through Facebook for ticket information as well as Twitter to further their brand identity with their followers and newcomers. Email marketing will be used as a way to keep top-of-mind awareness with their current subscribers, as well as tabling twice a month at local high schools to recruit more students for The Social Education for Youth in Chicago program.

The shows for this season include The Producers by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, Certain Young Men by Peter Gill, Spring Awakeningby Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater and Is He Dead? by Mark Twain. The Producers tells the tale of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, two men who scheme their way into making millions off of a seemingly fake Broadway show. Certain Young Men is a different kind of comedy that explores the lives of eight men who are constantly putting on a show for not only everyone around them, but themselves as well. Spring Awakening invites the audience in to relive the insecurities and new opportunities of teenage life, all while grabbing for a tissue or two. Last but not least, Is He Dead? focuses around a young painter who catches himself in a long-winded lie, and long story short, has to find a way to bring himself back to life so he can marry the woman he loves.

Tip of The Tongue Productions chose these shows because of the overt yet extremely covert truths in the plotlines. Tip of The Tongue invites their current and future audiences to join in on the conversation, and hopefully, successfully add to it as well.
